BIOS Evolution

kernelthread has a bit of BIOS history and a look forward to its successor: Extensible Firmware Interface, or EFI for short. This is a long overdue step forward which will make PC setup and trouble-shooting much easier and will hopefully get modern PCs all nice and legacy free.
