CNET News writes of Microsoft’s plan to limit its patches and updates to genuine copies of their Windows operating systems. The company will now verify the OS before it allows updates to be downloaded starting in February for a handful of countries and moving to a worldwide requirement by mid-year. A good plan on paper, hopefully the can get it working correctly in practice.
