The Tech Report has a look at a pair of audio cards based on the C-Media Oxygen HD CMI8788 chip. The sound processor is one of the more advanced chips to come out in recent times with built-in support for Dolby Digital Live and DTS making it a nice option for the HTPC market but you’ll have to stick with Creative if you’re a performance nut.
