Shuttle XPC SX58H7 enables compact high-end computing

November 16th, 2009 by Rafael Hernandez No comments

Shuttle XPC SX58H7Shuttle can be credited with making the small form factor computer popular, what with their diminutive designs that took the latest and greatest components and rearranged them in such a way that they’d fit comfortably in such cramped quarters.

The new Shuttle XPC SX58H7 supports Intel’s Core i7 processors which is quite the powerful chip for such a small space. DriverHeaven has the full review:

Shuttle has certainly packed a significant amount into the SX58H7, even in its “empty” state there is very little free space. Looking at the system through the left side we can see the two CrossFire/SLI capable PCIe 16x slots at the nearest edge. In the top down view it is possible to see the copper heatsink which runs from the ICH 10R Southbridge (RAID 0, 1, 5, 10) to the X58 Northbridge. Between the two chipsets is CPU location, a 1366 socket which supports all I7-900 series CPUS and over to the right we have three SATA II connectors, IDE port and front panel connections.  Looking through the right side of the system we can see four memory slots which work in triple channel at speeds up to 1600MHz and a capacity of 16 GB.

A powerful system although you may have a bit of trouble getting one of the latest high-end graphics cards into it due to power requirements.

Shuttle X50 AIO PC, Atom goes stationary

September 29th, 2009 by Rafael Hernandez No comments

Shuttle X50 AIOShuttle has had a long string of successful mini-PC designs and could be counted on creating something powerful, and quite toasty, in an insanely small form factor. This time around they’ve taken a different approach.

The Shuttle X50 All-In-One PC crams Intel’s Atom 330 dual-core CPU into a rather svelte machine that would fit into most any location. Think Computers has a look:

This is for sure an All-in-One computer! The entire thing basically looks like an overly-large monitor or TV. Let’s start with the screen on the X50 it is a 15.6-inch widescreen panel giving you a maximum resolution of 1366 x 768. One thing that set’s the X50 apart from other nettop’s is that this screen is actually a touch screen, although it is single touch, unlike the HP TouchSmart PC.

Perfect for the kitchen or…well anywhere you need a bit of computing action.

Shuttle's X Vision X50, Making The Nettop Touchable

March 20th, 2009 by Rafael Hernandez No comments

Shuttle is known mostly for their popularizing the small form factor computer design which has won them plenty of praise. Apparently the company isn’t content to stick with a single product line so they’ve come up with their X Vision X50 nettop computer which features a touchscreen. VR-Zone has the details:

The new X50 integrates state-of-the-art touch and small form technology, offering an intuitive interface that empowers both novices and professionals. The 15.6-inch all-in-one PC combines all the essential applications into a single device that starts up quickly, with a simple touch of the screen by finger or included stylus pen. Even the stand itself brings a unique touch – it is convertible, and can be flipped upward to reveal an easy carrying handle, or be completely removed for VESA ready mounting. That makes the X50 very versatile and suitable for a wide variety of applications and settings, including digital signage or kiosks.

A slick little device, perfect for computing in areas where you lack much space.
