OCZ Vertex 120GB, The SSD Gets Cheaper

The solid-state drive has a ton of benefits that users are clamoring for namely insanely high speeds, much improved reliability when it comes to bumping them around, and lower power usag. Unfortunately they’ve been on the pricier end of the spectrum so few have enjoyed the benefits.

In comes the OCZ Vertex 120GB SSD sporting all of those great qualities at a somewhat reasonable price. Prepare to be amazed by a dazzling series of charts and graphs from Overclock3D:

The Western Digital Velociraptor, Caviar Black and Samsung F1 drives
may be among the fastest mechanical SATA disks on the market, but as
we’ve seen today they are absolutely no match for the OCZ Vertex. In
benchmarks such as HDTune and ATTO the Vertex produced read and write
results almost double that of the ageing platter spinners and as if
that wasn’t enough humiliation, the Vertex totally dominated PCMark
Vantage with some results coming out over 10x higher than than the rest
of the drives. Simply awesome.

The pricetag and storage are a fair sight nicer than last year’s batch. Quite tempting, isn’t it?
